Bio-Based Material Development
Research to manufacture bio-based raw materials, and apply them to resins for unsaturated polyester resins in specialty applications, composites, and coating.
Government-Backed Innovation
Bowden Chemicals was awarded a UK Government grant, through Innovate UK to support this research, which has already resulted in a patent application, for an unsaturated polyester resin with minimum 55% bio-sourced raw materials and an option to increase this to 90%. All developed products are designed to be economically similar to fossil fuel based resins.
Advancing
Next-Generation Resins
For the future it is planned to develop processes to make further bio-sourced raw materials, to be able to increase the bio content of resins to an 90% content.
